The reason for the comment count being off has been found. In Settings you need to have ‘Undetermined’ in your language selection, or any comment where language wasn’t specified becomes invisible (incl. old comments before language was a property on posts).

Thanks. Your comment is also only visible from Notifications. I created this issue: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/985

Your comment is unreachable, when I try to follow it. Now answering from my notifications screen.

Something is buggy, maybe…? I saw one comment from a user on LemmyGrad in notifications. Clicking on the ‘link’ icon didn’t navigate to this post. So I went to landing page, then to this post. Now I see there are 3 comments here, but only 1 is shown with a reply, but this only says “1 more reply -->” and clicking it has no effect, nor has reloading the page. (btw, Firefox 111.01 on Ubuntu)

The recent Lemmy post with the "Can ActivityPub save the internet?" link, says there are 4 comments. They can't be viewed from Lemmy however. Copy/paste the URL in Mastodon and the comments become visible (they are all non-Lemmy commenters).

I commented on the original post. Activity has shifted to Forgejo.

The image shows a 'onebox' or OpenGraph link preview generated when dropping this link https://lemmy.ml/post/569631 into a Discourse forum post. It would be very nice if the preview included the name of the Community to which this was posted, i.e. [!fediversefutures@lemmy.ml](https://lemmy.ml/c/fediversefutures)

Open Letter to Gitea
cross-posted from: https://lemmy.ml/post/568420 > In reaction to the surprise [announcement](https://blog.gitea.io/2022/10/open-source-sustainment-and-the-future-of-gitea/) of the creation of Gitea Ltd and the transfer of domains and trademark to this company, worried members of the Community have written an Open Letter to the elected Owners of the project. > > The request is to return the assets and manage them by a community-led non-profit organization and furthermore improve the community organization, so that the Trust and Health of the project is restored. > > The Open Letter can be signed by sending a PR to the [Codeberg repository](https://codeberg.org/SocialCoding/gitea-open-letter).

The Create post hung too. And no errors were logged to the browser console window.

[Solved] All ‘Save’ actions remain hanging
Since a little while all 'Save' actions hang on the spinner that keeps running. This while the save already happened. To see that I need to refresh the page. I had this with Create comment, Create cross-post, and soon I'll know if it happens with Create post too. Note that the refresh caused the cross-post not to be marked as such, and it looks like I duplicated a topic independently now.. [this post](https://lemmy.ml/post/539000) should be a cross-post of [this one](https://lemmy.ml/post/538538). Am using Firefox 105.0.3 on Ubuntu 22.04

Nice. Not documented that tables are also supported. CC @dessalines@lemmy.ml

If only people knew just how much better things could be.

This is where I’m advocating a lot. Btw, I took note on major challenges to overcome to be able to go much further than where we are now (and not slide backwards either). See: https://discuss.coding.social/t/major-challenges-for-the-fediverse/67

The majority of these challenges relate to social issues, btw. Or sociotechnical, if you will.

Here’s the text from the Codeberg README:

The Free Software Logo is released by Robert Martinez under Creative Commons Zero 1.0.
It is supposed to only indicate Free Software as defined by the Free Software Foundation.

Please DO:

  • use the logo wherever you need to represent Free Software
  • colorize the Logo to fit your design requirements

Please DO NOT:

  • deform the logo by stretching, compressing or skewing

We are preparing an initiative called Social Coding Movement that aims to address these problems. It will start out as a Challenges / Best-practices pattern library that is crowdsourced. It recognizes that coding itself is social. One core theme it will address is the Free Software Development Lifecycle or FSDL. Over time we want to collect more and more tools and wield the Fediverse for its sociotechnical capabilities, and in support of the FSDL.

Social Coding isn’t yet live, but if you are interested, then join us on the Matrix chatrooms: Social Coding (general), Social Coding Foundations (addressing health of ecosystems and the fediverse itself).

It might be that this issue is on Mastodon-side. I sent out some #AskFedi toots before and other people using a similar version v3.5.3 as mine replied not having this issue, so it may be instance-specific.

Btw, I don’t see this topic being boosted by @lemmy_support from Mastodon UI either.

[Solved] User name and community name clash caused federation issues
I am commenting with my [@humanetech@lemmy.ml](https://lemmy.ml/u/humanetech) account on https://lemmy.ml/post/346923 Then from mastodon.social several weird behavior: - Searching on https://lemmy.ml/post/346923 doesn't find anything. - Searching on @fediversefutures doesn't find anything (though search on @fediversefutures@lemmy.ml does) - When opening @fediversefutures profile in the timeline, I do not see my [@humanetech@lemmy.ml](https://lemmy.ml/u/humanetech) comments. - But I do see comments from other lemmy.ml accounts replying to the same post. - When I click such reply, the thread loads minus my own replies, and minus my top-level post, which isn't in the timeline for @fediversefutures either when viewing from Mastodon UI (using my [@humanetech@mastodon.social](https://mastodon.social/users/humanetech) account). **Update** Thanks to some great help of [@LemmyDev@mastodon.social](https://mastodon.social/users/LemmyDev) in [this toot](https://mastodon.social/@LemmyDev/108730171841203247) I found out that my account was broken, because someone had later on created a community with the same name. There are open issues to handle such cases: - https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/17008 - https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/1922 Since the community was inactive LemmyDev deleted it, and my account works again
