  • The sad thing is I’ve encountered funky compatibility issues just between current versions of word. Going from Office 2022 (I think. I honestly can’t remember their LTSC office releases off the top of my head at all) to M365 triggered some minor formatting changes, and going from local word document to one that’s shared on SharePoint completely fucked up all of the images in the document and required many hours of rearranging the images because word still sucks for desktop publishing

  • When I worked at a bank we had a loan officer who wrote in such broken English that the email filter actually started flagging and blocking his outbound emails as a suspected compromise. Worst part is he was handling multimillion dollar agribusiness loans. Second worst part is he’s as white American as they come, having had family farming not 20 miles away for generations, so it’s not even like he can claim a non-local dialect or second language challenges

I need to poke at their newer stuff. I kinda stopped paying attention to their new releases after Black Market and the one single they released a couple years after that, but there’s a few songs that hit that older style like The Eco Terrorist in Me that still go hard. I do respect that even as the sound left my general preferred punk sound, their lyrics remained as complex and literary as always (seriously how often are you looking up words from song lyrics in a dictionary?)

  • I mean, there was a period about 15 years ago when he seemed to be the only rich person actually talking about climate change, doing something that might make some difference (investing in an electric vehicle startup, and later a rooftop solar startup) and seemed to actually be concerned about it. I now question if that was just an act or not.

On the other hand there is the theory that he fell down the right wing social media pipeline during the pandemic and that’s why he’s seemed to have such a sudden shift on political party affiliation. I like that theory because I think it’s kinda funny to imagine one of the richest men in the world being too cooped up and spending too long doomscrolling to the point that he became radicalized by social media algorithms

Real talk, this screenshot is probably for an application intended for hiding communications with another partner from your spouse. When I worked in support for a phone manufacturer I encountered it once while educating a customer about excessive app permissions. I pointed out “for example this calculator app has permission to make and receive calls. A calculator app should never have permissions like that” and he sheepishly explained what the app was and that in this case it actually should. Points for honesty I guess?

  • oof that site is pretty bad even with ublock origin. It also hijacks copy/paste so you can’t copy/paste the article to spare others, and any attempt to bypass that gets passed along to extracting the paid article below it rather than giving you the actual text of the article. Oh and it pops up to sign in with google, pops up with a discounted subscription offer, and pops up other animated elements on every edge of the screen (which actually link to real site content!) further making it difficult to just read the damn article

Good news is it literally doesn’t provide any information other than quoting his tweet about laying off his entire dev team and then his linked post from a few weeks later he was looking for devs (and the article quotes random people on reddit to fill it out of course)
